Fear of the disaster, authorities ordered the evacuation of all the Hawaii coastal areas. The tourist district of Waikiki, visitors were moved to a higher level of accommodation. Elsewhere, residents line up to the store and stored emergency supplies, including gas, bottled water, canned food and generators.
